Trigger Point Therapy

We find that people often come to yoga with myofascial pain and are sometimes referred by their doctor.

Unless you are doing a private yoga lesson, yoga classes for the general public cannot address specific individual issues. Yoga was originally taught one to one.

If a muscle is not functioning properly, it will not strengthen or stretch effectively. Releasing the trigger points that cause pain allow the muscle fibers to expand and contract smoothly and effectively, healing the body and increasing range of movement.

"Where the pain is, it isn't." Janet Travell M.D.

The source of the pain is most often not where you feel it.

Stretching is a key component of Trigger Point Therapy. Once the tension points are released, the muscles should be stretched to facilitate the return of normal muscle function. After assessing and treating the muscles, range of motion exercises, self release techniques and stretches will be taught.

Taking time to relax and breathe properly also helps in the healing of myofascial pain. Everything is connected. Some of the conditions that Trigger Point Therapy can treat are: plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, hip, back, shoulder,  knee and foot pain to name only a few.

Wear regular yoga clothes to your appointment. The first appointment is a required 90 minutes to assess posture and range of motion.

Please bring the intake form with you to your first appointment.
