Instructor Allison Haugh

Instructor Allison Haugh

Allison ventured into her first yoga class in 1995 and became hooked on yoga while living in South Bend, Indiana. Allison has continued to practice and teach yoga and further her studies at Yogaview in Chicago. She also enjoys the therapeutic application of yoga and exploring the mind/body relationship in asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practice) and meditation as well as using Byron Katie’s method of self – inquiry.

Allison tries to attend a teacher training once a year. She is trained in Yin Yoga and Anatomy with Paul Grilley and Vinyasa Krama Yoga with Srivatswa Ramaswami as well as pre-natal yoga. Allison has attended other workshops/teacher trainings with nationally known teachers and earned her initial 200-hour teacher training in 2007. Allison is the owner of Yoga on 45th.

Allison is also a Licensed body worker, specializing in the practice of Trigger Point Therapy and range of motion evaluation as well as stretching, to release and heal areas of tension and dysfunction of muscles.

She continues to learn every day through her own yoga practice and is forever grateful to all the teachers who are most often her students and especially to her teacher Geri Bleier who inspires Allison to continue to explore the deeper aspects of yoga. Yoga is so rich and diverse in nature, there is a style and practice of yoga for everyone.

New to Yoga

  • You will be greeted at the door and fill out our waiver, pay and sign-in.
  • Please leave your shoes at the front of the studio. We will show you the restroom, prop storage area, coat rack etc.
  • Roll out your mat and get ready to begin!
  • You will be asked to pay attention to yourself and appreciate that your body is unique and different from everyone else’s in the room. No two yoga poses look the same on any one person. The purpose and feel of the pose is so much more important than what it looks like. You will be asked to consciously breathe. At the end of class you will be asked to lie on the floor and relax completely while watching your thoughts pass by.
  • “Namaste” will be said at the end of class. Namaste literally means, “I bow to you.” It is an expression of gratitude and can be used casually as a greeting or expressed poetically.
